The Edinburg Volunteer Fire Company is located
within the Town of Edinburg, Saratoga County, in Upstate New York.
The company provides fire protection services to the Town of
Edinburg as well as the western half of adjacent Town of Day. EVFC
also provides mutual aid for surrounding fire districts, including
for Northville and Providence.
The community we serve is located in the Sacandaga River Valley
in the northwest corner of Saratoga County. The Sacandaga River
was flooded to create a reservoir in 1930 to provide flood
control for communities downstream along the Hudson River. The
reservoir is now known as the Great Sacandaga Lake. The opposite
shores of the lake are connected by the Batchellerville Bridge
located near the four corners in Edinburg. The fire house is
also located near the four corners which makes it a critical
location in order to access any spot within the district in the
least amount of time. The land along the lake, near the shores,
is relatively flat with steep mountainous terrain arising on
both sides of the lake.
The entire protection area consists of real property (seasonal
and permanent residences) and forestlands. The population is
composed of approximately 2000 permanent residents which grows
to up-wards of 20,000 seasonal residents throughout the summer
months.
Emergency calls via 911 are received at Saratoga County's 911
emergency system located near Ballston Spa, NY. They will then
dispatch the appropriate agency to respond to an emergency
location. 911 calls made on cellular phones may be received at
the State Police Troop G headquarters near Albany. However your
location and service provider could mean that your emergency
call is directed to a different 911 call center. Always give the
operator an accurate description of your location so that
emergency crews will not be delayed in their response.

HELP US... HELP YOU!
Is your 911 address properly
displayed and visible from the road?
In the event of an
emergency, we rely on locating your residence, camp or
business as quickly as possible. Adequate signage of
your 911 address is imperative in reducing our response
times. Private roadways and driveways should also be
correctly identified. Doing so just may save your
property... or your life! |
